About Us

Carriere-Stumm, Inc. was originally formed in 1977 as the Nashville Corporation. The founding principles were Pierre F. Carriere, Robert J. Stumm Jr., Anne C. Carriere, and Anne C. Stumm. In the initial stages, the company performed several residential general construction projects. In 1983, Anne C. Carriere and Anne C. Stumm became majority owners and changed the name to Carriere-Stumm, Inc. In 1985, Pierre Carriere and Robert Stumm resigned from Standard Roofing and became president and vice-president of Carriere-Stumm, Inc. The company’s focus was primarily on hard bid new construction commercial roofing and sheet metal. Robert and Anne Stumm purchased Pierre and Anne Carriere’s interest in the company in 1991.

Until 1993, Carriere-Stumm, Inc. primarily operated as a commercial roofing and sheet metal specialty subcontractor.

After the death of Pierre Carriere in 1993, the company’s goals were reevaluated. Carriere-Stumm, Inc. began to focus on relationship sales. By developing relationships with key general contractors, the company was able to increase revenues from negotiated new construction. The company also developed relationships directly with owners for roof replacements, roof maintenance and building maintenance.

In 2000, Carriere-Stumm, Inc. began to dedicate more emphasis to negotiated reroof, repair and maintenance work. In addition, the IMR (Inspection, Maintenance and Repair) Program was conceived, developed and began the process to obtain a patent. From 2000 to 2004, the company has completely focused on relationship sales and discontinued its efforts in the hard bid markets. It was also during this time period that Carriere-Stumm, Inc. began to serve as a prime contractor on several projects.

In 2004, Carriere-Stumm, Inc. began a general construction division focusing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Carriere-Stumm, Inc. now provides general construction services with self performing specialties in concrete, steel, metal siding, metal roofing, membrane roofing, sheet metal and comprehensive asset management services to its commercial clients.

In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans and Mississippi Gulf Coast region. Between September 2005 and December 2006 Carriere-Stumm, Inc. completed over $23,000,000 in general construction, roofing and sheet metal projects as part of the recovery effort.

In December 2006, Carriere-Stumm, Inc. changed its name to Carriere-Stumm, LLC. Also in 2006, the company began offering its services as a general contractor on residential steel framed homes. Carriere-Stumm, LLC has targeted this market as the next growth area for the company, which parallels with the company’s dedication to the rebuilding and rejuvenation of the New Orleans area and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
